Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto awards our practice with renovation and expansion of their heritage golf club building
We are pleased to announce that The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto has selected Dubbeldam Architecture + Design for the renovation and addition to their historic 19th century clubhouse in Thornhill. Founded in 1924 by the pioneering female golfer Ada Mackenzie, Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto was the first of its kind in North America, and remains so today.
This project is near-and-dear to principal Heather Dubbeldam’s heart, as a female architect in a traditionally male-dominated profession more than 75 years after Ada Mackenzie overcame incredible obstacles and odds to break down barriers for women that we now take for granted. The Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto is more than just a building, it is a symbol of female strength, ingenuity, resilience and sisterhood.
